Louis was not a very good candidate in examinations since the education system did not include subjects such as design. Instead of continuing her education, she entered the workforce early, but her coworkers always looked down on her. At the beginning of her career, Louis worked as an ordinary clerical worker. Perhaps due to her grades and experience, she was unsatisfactory with her job. To make her life meaningful, she returned to school to study interior design.
"My dream is interior design." People who are talented in painting and art are generally not valued. After all, it is not mainstream in Hong Kong. Louis struggled for two years before finally getting involved with interior design and the corresponding qualifications to start a new page in her life.
Back then, interior designers did not work with computer software or automatic functions for drawing. Louis said she made her living with a pen, drawing all the details on paper. In this way, she can visualize where each component should go, just like the Roman architects presenting the scenery in their minds on the blueprints. This out-of-the-box technology relies on the basic skills of a designer and is needed for a truly perfect composition.
After mastering the basic skills, it is time to accumulate practical experience. Louis has worked on various engineering projects for over ten years and gained valuable experience by participating in large-scale projects such as theaters and casinos. By understanding the close relationship between design and building services, Louis has greatly improved the efficiency of work. "At present, whenever I think about composition, it is a finished product, and the entire 3D image forms in my mind." Thanks to her solid basic skills, there is no so-called difference between 2D and 3D in design because they appear simultaneously.
However, design has always been hard work. It is common to stay up all night, but the merits and remuneration are not necessarily balanced. After all, they are just wage earners. Louis' family always suggested she start her own business. But for many people, part-time work is better than being a boss, and entrepreneurs may not be recognized by many. Louis said frankly that she never thought of starting her own business at the beginning until her family strongly supported and voluntarily assisted her in setting up a company, and a brand belonging to Louis was finally born. "My biggest goal is to serve the citizens in Aberdeen."
"Today is different from the past. It is not an era when the decorators have the final say." Nowadays, platforms such as HK Decoman provides citizens with easy access to different information. After the clients have the correct information, they can become team members. It is no longer a "buy and sell" transaction where you find someone to do decoration, but a process that requires communication.
In the past, the decorators took the lead in a project, and the customers may not have their opinions as they may not understand it in any manner. Some decorators leave their work unfinished and breach the conduct. To change this, Louis believes responsible interior designers and decorators must actively use their professional knowledge to help customers. Communication is the key to a successful project, pointing out any foreseeable problems, exchanging ideas with customers, and finding the decoration and design that suits the clients.
